Mentarang XXL

It was not really part of the plan, but it turned out to be the best part of this (yet another) breakfast ride.  Having BBQ'd mentarang for lunch.

This is the Mentarang - best served BBQ'd or in a soup
It was a late plan.  In fact it was not really a plan.  It was just a "who's up for breakfast at Bidor, Mee Kari Ramli tomorrow" kind of plan.

The four of us was obviously up for the rather short ride... errr... maybe not that short.... average distance?

Few firsts took place on this ride.

Faizal's first time riding with this bunch.  Mzac's first time as well after he recently bought the K8 and after he took a rest from biking when he sold his 954 more than five years ago (if my memory serves me right).  Also, it has been about ten years since I last rode together with Faizal when he was riding the SRAD.  Zack has been my regular breakfast-ride buddy for a while now :-)  So, not a first of any sort.

And finally, today's ride would be my first ride on the recently acquired GSA.  But, I won't be doing any reviews in this little blog entry.  Plus, I am not that good in reviews anyway... hehehehe..

For Zack and me, this is a repeat of the ride we did way back in January 2014. Wow!  It has been two years.  How time flies....

Zack

As we head out from the RnR after filling up the tanks, Zack led the pack at a constant sub 200km/h speed.  The GSA growls as I tried, very hard, to keep up with them.  But, kept up I did... albeit at a distance behind them... hehehehe... One consolation... there were not many traffic on the north-bound PLUS highway.

And this is what the ride was all about...  Mee kari / mee kicap Ramli Bidor.

Not that special... right?  But actually, the mee kari, mee sup and mee kicap were very delicious!

Anyway... Zack had another follow up plan in place.  And the plan involves riding back via the federal or coastal road instead of the highway.  For me and Zack, this would be the same exact route that we did before - even the police roadblock was at the same place!

We left the mee-kari place I guess (did not look at the time) around 10.30 or so.  Before noon, we arrived at the mentarang bakar place. Zack was quite excited upon seeing the size of that thing - XXL as he put it.

It was really satisfying.  We strongly recommend this place.
The soup was extraordinary! Yum Yummy... hehehehe...
The price has gone up a bit from our previous trip - expected as it has been two years after all.
But still, cooked, its slightly less than RM30 per kg.  Uncooked/raw/fresh @ RM22 per kg.
Note - this would be a first for both Faizal and Mzac (eating mentarang).  :-)

Well, we rested until about 1.00pm before heading back (under the scorching sun).  Everyone arrived home safely well before 3.00pm.

Ohh... by the way, I ordered a kilo of the souped mentarang for my wife and kids at home - after all,  I have the tong (the panniers) to carry the "bounty"... hehehe....

However,  the "bounty"..... photo 20160125_144447.jpg Flooded the "tong" - probably from the jump and humps of the rough road from Sekinchan to Puncak Alam...  But fret not... as there were still enough soup left when it was served to the family.... which lasted less than five minutes... it was that delicious! photo 20160125_145427.jpg

That was that.  A swell ride.  I know that Zack, Faizal and Mzac enjoyed this outing as much as I did.  Well.... maybe I enjoyed it a tad bit more... hehehehe... and I'm sure you know why.

All in all, great outing.
Thanks guys...
